Veterinary Diagnostics

Minerva Biolabs has recently taken its experience in molecular diagnostics to the field of veterinary medicine. Using the highly sensitive polymerase chain reaction (PCR) technique, Minerva Biolabs offers advanced pathogen detection for poultry diseases.

As poultry flocks are vulnerable to respiratory infections from a variety of agents including mycoplasmas, the utilization of our detection methods can help avoid economic losses associated with mycoplamsa infections that include reduced egg production, lowered hatchability of chicks and downgraded meat quality.

Venor®MGS - Mycoplasma Diagnostic Assay

PCR Sreening Assay for mycoplasma in poultry

The Venor®MGS screening assay is a multiplex PCR system for detection and specification of mycoplasma species associated with poultry diseases. PCR has been established as the method for highest sensitivity of pathogen detection in poultry samples.

Mycoplasma synoviae is a known pathogen associated with the development of synovitis and chronic respiratory disease in chicken and turkey.

Mycoplasma gallisepticum is associated with chronic respiratory disease in chicken and infectious sinusitis in turkey.

Technical Features

  • Highly sensitive
Requiring as little as 2-5 mycoplasma per sample volume.
  • Specific
The specificity is greater than 99%. Primer set specific for highly conserved membrane protein coding segment of pathogen genome.
  • Reliable
through incorporation of positive control DNA and internal control DNA for optional PCR quality check.
  • Convenient
PCR templates prepared from tracheal swab samples or serum.

Highest User Convenience

  • Simple
One easy-to-follow, step-by-step protocol detects common mycoplasma species in a single multiplex reaction.
  • Convenient
Direct testing of tracheal swab or serum samples. Samples are prepared by boiling extraction.

Disclaimer: The Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) process is covered by patents owned by Hoffmann-La-Roche, Inc. Use of the PCR process requires a license.
