Swab Wash Buffer

Buffer contains bactericidal and bacteriostatic reagents. Detergents allow the quantitative delamination of DNA and microorganisms from the swab tissue into the aqueous phase. The neutralizing buffer exhibits toxic effects on microorganisms. This permits the transfer of swabbed organisms to the laboratory for quantitative analysis by qPCR or conventional PCR. The swab buffer is not designed to transfer microorganisms from the swab to culture plates for subsequent cultivation.

Applications

Swab Wash Buffer is suitable for use in:

• Elution of DNA and microorganisms from Nylon- and Dacron-based swabs.
• Ideal for further DNA extraction of the DNA-loaded buffer with Minerva Biolabs´ DNA Extraction Kit
