MB DNA Extraction Kit

The MB DNA Extraction Kit provides PCR templates highly compatible with Minerva Biolabs´ PCR kits.

For clinical samples the collection of nasal, pharyngeal or vaginal samples with a swab is easy and convenient. For further analysis by PCR the elution of the required DNA from swab material is of prime importance. The sample DNA must be available in a minutest volume to yield high DNA concentrations and a maximum sensitivity, shall be free of PCR inhibitors and fit the reaction conditions of the subsequent PCR. The kit routinely contains such an optimized swab wash buffer.

For Chlamydia trachomatis PCR the extraction of DNA from the optimal first flush of urine (<8 ml) is preferred.

The MB DNA Extraction Kit can also be used for DNA purification from cell culture supernatants which often show PCR inhibition at a late stage of cultivation.

Applications

DNA can be extracted from

• flocked swabs or swabs coated with cotton, Dacron®, or rayon (Viscose) taken from nasal, pharygeal or vaginal spots as well as from the skin
• urine
• cell culture supernatants

The kit works with DNA extraction columns which can be loaded with up to 200 µl of swab wash buffer or sample fluids.

Contents & Storage
Swab wash buffer, spin columns, collection tubes, Protease K, wash buffers, and elution buffer for 100 extractions.

Ethanol is required for the reconstitution of the wash buffer and not included in the kit.

Store kit at +2 to +8°C.
