Venor®GeM- Mycoplasma Detection Kit

KIT FOR IN VITRO DIAGNOSIS OF MYCOPLASMA

Venor®GeM employs PCR technology for rapid and reliable detection of mycoplasma in various in situ biologicals including cell cultures and virus stocks.

We highly recommend our reliable hot-start MB Taq DNA Polymerase for optimal Venor®GeM performance and most sensitive results. We cannot guarantee excellent results with other polymerases.

Benefits of Venor®GeM

  • Highly sensitive
Detection of 1,5 copies/µl of mycoplasma DNA that corresponds to 3 mycoplasma per sample volume. LOD95% = 4,5 copies/µl.
  • Highly specific
Venor®GeM is specific for more than 25 mycoplasma species. Venor®GeM-QP and Venor®GeM-DI are specific for nine mycoplasma species.
  • Reliable
The kit contains internal control DNA and positive control DNA to optimize reproducibility and minimize operator-dependent variability of results.
  • Validated
Venor®GeM was intensively validated according the guidelines of the European Pharmacopoeia, section 2.6.21.
  • Convenient
Venor®GeM contains optimized PCR reagents which conveniently allows testing to be performed periodically or routinely for quality control.
  • Ease of use
One protocol using standard lab equipment detects all relevant species. Allows for direct testing of culture stocks: Elimination of antibiotics or special growth conditions are not required for testing.
  • Samples are easily prepared
Templates for PCR analysis are prepared by boiling the supernatant of cell cultures or other sample material.
  • Results are easily determined
A clear and easily interpretable result is obtained with one PCR reaction.
  • Rapid
The whole procedure can be completed in about 3 hours.

Test Principle

Minerva Biolabs´ Mycoplasma Detection Kit Venor®GeM incorporates the highly-sensitive PCR technology as its method for detecting contaminating mycoplasma, which also offers outstanding characteristics over other techniques and products used for mycoplasma safety.

Quantitative and qualitative PCR assays: We deploy VenorGeM for the qualitative conventional PCR or VenorGeM-QP and -DI for the quantitative real-time PCR.

Screen frequently to validate your experimental results.

Screening of cell cultures at regular intervals for mycoplasma contamination is critical for reliable and reproducible results. We recommend to screen cell cultures on a monthly basis as well as before cryopreservation. In addition to the Venor®GeM Mycoplasma Detection Kit, we offers a mycoplasma screening service.

Background

Mycoplasma are known to cause a variety of human and animal diseases, and in the laboratory, mycoplasma are often found as common contaminants in cell cultures, virus stocks, and other cell-derived biologicals. Mycoplasma contamination is a recurring problem that can cause non-reproducible results in research and productivity losses of up to 50% in industry, which can be avoided by routine diagnostic testing. Also, testing for mycoplasma infection is now an essential requirement in reaching quality control standards for laboratories concerned with the production and maintenance of cell lines used in manufacturing various biologicals.

Kit Components

  • primer sets and nucleotides at optimized concentrations
  • positive control for easy result verification
  • internal control to ensure accurate testing
  • instruction manual
  • storage box

We highly recommend our reliable hot-start MB Taq DNA Polymerase for PCR detection of mycoplasma (Cat. No. 53-0200).

Venor®GeM kit components are lyophilized and at +2 bis +8 °C maintainable for at least 12 months. Primer and nucleotides are aliquoted (á 25 tests) to guarantee consistent quality. After rehydratisation the reagents must be stored at -18 °C.
